The fundamental purpose of our education should be to help us evolve and transform into worthy citizens. When achieved with humility and right conduct, it also leads ultimately to our enrichment and brings contentment. This is the foundational philosophy on which is built the DAV group of schools, managed by the Tamil Nadu Arya Samaj Society, a limb of Arya Samaj (Central), Chennai.
Set on a sprawling campus in the heart of Mogappair, Anna Nagar, Chennai, the DAV Senior Secondary School, affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi, was established in 1989. The school campus has been thoughtfully designed, with well-ventilated rooms, state of the art infrastructure, a grand auditorium and an enviable open ground – a haven for our boys.
In the four decades since its inception, the school has invariably provided the right atmosphere and guidance to promote multifaceted development our students, showcased by their sustained high degree of academic excellence. This has been made possible by a constantly evolving and highly efficient group of teachers – almost a hundred of them – striving passionately to offer high -VALUE ADDED VIDYA.
Spurred by the challenges of the pandemic, we have also implemented an effective blended learning platform, getting our teachers and students to reposition and, in many ways, also rediscover, themselves. They have indeed succeeded in doing this exceptionally well. I consider it my distinct honour to head this inspired group.
Our signature features, such as the daily havan and training in yoga, serve us well in fostering mental and physical wellness. In addition, Vedic Sanskriti School, Krida Kendra, Prashasthi and Gurusikshanam, are some of the programs, instituted by our secretary, to help us advance toward his vision of DAV being a temple of learning.
Active co-operation of the parent community, our strongest pillar of support, invaluable guidance of our management, the work of our dedicated teaching and support staff, and the unbounded enthusiasm of our students help to resonate with me the call, “Lift yourself to be yourself, ” and inspire me to continue seeking ways to make a difference.
